The International Business Council supports initiatives to liberalize airspace in Kyrgyzstan, including the open skies policy.

This will help attract more tourists to the country, as well as provide an opportunity to fly from Bishkek directly to Europe or Southeast Asia, IBC Executive Director Askar Sydykov said at a roundtable on January 29 at the Sputnik Kyrgyzstan press center.

On the other hand, it is necessary to consider how to preserve domestic airlines, creating favorable conditions for them, in particular, to provide certain benefits, for example, to be exempted from VAT, the IBC Executive Director believes.

The RT participants discussed amendments to the Air Code, which propose the introduction of the open skies regime in the country, including the fifth air freedom degree — the right of foreign aircraft to unload or take passengers, baggage, cargo, and mail to their country or another state.
