A meeting of honorary consuls of the Kyrgyz Republic held in Bishkek

On March 15-16, the 5th meeting of honorary consuls of the Kyrgyz Republic in foreign countries was held in Bishkek.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Chingiz Aidarbekov and Deputy Chairman of the Parliament Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security, MP Kanybek Imanaliev chaired the meeting.

The IBC Executive Director Askar Sydykov participated in the meeting.

Aidarbekov spoke about the contribution of honorary consuls into strengthening bilateral relations with foreign states, stressing the importance of the activities of honorary consuls to protect the rights and interests of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic abroad.

The Minister drew attention to the approved new Concept of the country's foreign policy, in which national interests and priorities are defined.

The event included three panel sessions to assist in the revitalization of economic diplomacy, including attracting foreign investment, expanding export markets, and promoting tourism.

Minister Aidarbekov handed certificates of honor, letters of thanks and consular patents to honorary consuls of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Following the meeting, recommendations for implementation by honorary consuls in the countries of accreditation for the period until the end of 2019 were developed.

On March 16, thematic visits of honorary consuls to promising investment and tourist facilities of Kyrgyzstan took place.

The event was attended by honorary consuls of the Kyrgyz Republic in Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Turkey, the United States, Germany, Finland, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Thailand.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic holds meetings of honorary consuls every two years to discuss the results of the work carried out and tasks for the next period.
