On May 17, 2019, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization business forum “SCO: Expanding Cooperation Boundaries” was held in Bishkek.

Representatives of the business community and the governments of the SCO member states discussed investment opportunities and economic sector development. IBC Executive Director Askar Sydykov took part in the forum.

All member countries of SCO including China, Russia, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India and Kazakhstan will attend the Business Forum and the Business Council meetings.

This year the presidency in the SCO has moved to Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyz Prime Minister Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev said.

“This is a great honor for our country but also a great responsibility. Therefore, our task is to create comfortable conditions for fruitful work for all participants and guests of the forum. Such business forums and other meetings of the business community are held to find business partners and exchange fresh ideas, talk about joint projects and opportunities for their implementation,” the Prime Minister said.

It is necessary to create additional tools for establishing a permanent dialogue within the framework of the SCO Business Council, said President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation Sergey Katyrin at the plenary session “The trade and investment cooperation, legislative aspects and initiatives.” For example, the SCO countries should mutually complement each other in the development of digitalization. One of the main tasks of the SCO Business Council is to support projects with multilateral integration potential.
