On June 24, 2019 the first meeting of the Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Committee was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbai Jeenbekov.

The meeting was attended by heads of government agencies and representatives of the country's business community.

The committee consists of 25 people from among representatives of state bodies, business community, heads of industrial enterprises, and experts.

President of Kyrgyzstan chairs the committee, and his deputies are First Deputy Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov and Executive Director of the International Business Council Askar Sydykov.

The Committee reviewed three issues — the results of the study of the current situation and prospects of the industrial sector, the prospects for the development of industry, and barriers and opportunities in the development of the processing industry in the Kyrgyz Republic.

“We pin high hopes for the Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Committee. For the first time such a platform with the participation of the government branches and the business community has been created at the highest level. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov heads the Committee,” said Askar Sydykov.

"Business is ready to fully engage in the Committee’s activities, jointly develop proposals for the development of industry and entrepreneurship, and help their implementation," he said.

At the Committee meeting, he spoke about the barriers to the business activities. “Of course, such actions can replenish the state budget for short-term goals, but in the long run these enterprises will reduce or completely stop their activities. Businesses needs stability and predictability of legislation, as well as guarantees that the law enforcement agencies will protect them but not hinder their activities,” Sydykov concluded.

At the next meeting scheduled for autumn, the Committee will consider the results of the first meeting and the problematic issues in other areas of business.
