Passage of freight transport through the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border resumed

The Kazakhstan side decided to resume the passage of freight vehicles through the Kazakh-Kyrgyz state border.

According to the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic, freight transport will be able to carry out international transportation at the Aktilek-Avtodorojny checkpoint (Kyrgyzstan) – Aisha-bibi checkpoint (Kazakhstan) and the Chon-Kapka-Avtodorojny checkpoint (Kyrgyzstan) – Karasu checkpoint (Kazakhstan) without time limits with the implementation of enhanced sanitary and epidemiological measures in relation to drivers of vehicles.

Negotiations are currently underway to open the Chaldovar- Avtodorojny checkpoint.

A number of negotiations were held at the level of deputy-prime ministers and prime ministers of the two countries to resume the passage of goods. At a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, which took place on April 14, 2020 by videoconference, the heads of the EAEU member states made a joint statement, noting the need to maintain the principle of freedom of movement of goods, including socially significant goods, food, medical equipment and drugs, medical supplies personal protection, etc.
