On October 24, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Artyom Novikov met with representatives of the mining industry and the business community.

The IBC head Askar Sydykov called on government agencies to assist in the resumption of the activities of mining enterprises, which were forced to suspend their activities during the events of October 6-8.

So far, the companies have not received real help from government agencies, he said. It is necessary to carry out explanatory work with local communities, provide tax incentives for the affected enterprises, as well as provide them with additional protection from the state.

Sydykov proposed to consider the possibility of providing all-round support for the early conclusion of agreements on stabilization between subsoil users and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as to simplify tax administration.

Each subject of economic activity will be guaranteed safety and protection from the Government, promised Novikov.

“We all understand that due to recent events large enterprises were forced to suspend their work, and some suffered damage. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has been instructed to provide, if necessary, round-the-clock security for each enterprise, as well as to create an operational headquarters to respond to business problems and protect investors,” said the First Deputy Prime Minister.

Novikov noted the weak work of authorized representatives in the regions with both entrepreneurs, investors and the local population. He assigned personal responsibility to the plenipotentiary representatives of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in the regions for the resumption of activities and further stable operation of mining enterprises.

Following the meeting, the First Deputy Prime Minister instructed to create an interdepartmental commission to assess the damage to the activities of mining companies on site and to conduct explanatory work among the local population, which prevents the resumption of work at enterprises.

It is necessary to take measures to ensure law and order in the areas of operation of mining companies, as well as to bring to justice those involved in the commission of illegal actions against subsoil users.
