On September 13, 2014, Kompanion Financial Group will hold its ninth annual Apple Festival. The event will take place on September 13th in Ak-Jar village, Uzgen district, Osh oblast. This is the first time Kompanion has organized its Apple Festival event in any of Kyrgyzstan’s southern regions.

This event will provide farmers, orchard-growers, and gardeners with the opportunity to demonstrate their products, to receive consultations on plant growing from Kompanion agronomists, and also to cooperation with apple processors.

During the event, farmers will display over 20 types of Uzgen apples, while residents of the district will participate in competitions for the most beautiful costume and the most original fruit dish, and school pupils will perform a concert. Representatives of National Agriculture Department and local gardening communities will participate in a round table to discuss development of the agricultural sector in the region.

Seven hundred visitors, including guests from France and Switzerland, are expected to visit the event this year.

Each year, the Apple Festival promotes the development of gardening and local market relationships that strengthen the economic potential of communities by allowing individuals to exchange their experiences in gardening and agriculture, based on scientific and ethno-ecological approaches.
