The amendments to the legislation, developed by the business community at the initiative of the International Business Council, will help protect entrepreneurs from unjustified criminal prosecution for tax legal relations.

An Interdepartmental Working Group under the Ministry of Justice considered a draft law on amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code and the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The draft law was developed by an expert group of the business community at the IBC initiative to solve problematic issues voiced by entrepreneurs at the second meeting of the Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Committee under the National Sustainable Development Council of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The bill aims to protect the rights of entrepreneurs from unjustified criminal prosecution in tax legal relations, as well as fill the gaps, eliminate conflicts and contradictions between the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code, and harmonize these codes with the Tax Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Following the discussion, the IWG decided to include the IBC proposals in the final version of the draft law, which will be submitted to the Economic Reforms Council under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.
