The results of the legislation analysis on women's labor discussed in Bishkek

On December 11, 2019, the participants in the round table — an expanded meeting of the tripartite working group reviewed the results of the analysis of legislation on women's labor in Kyrgyzstan.

The IBC representative is a the working group member.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

An analysis of the labor legislation of women in the Kyrgyz Republic was carried out to ensure equal opportunities and equal treatment of workers, men and women, including for the revision of the “List of productions, works, professions and positions with harmful and (or) dangerous working conditions, on which women’s labor is prohibited. ”

The main objectives of the meeting:

• To familiarize with preliminary conclusions and recommendations of the analysis of labor legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic and discuss them;

• To identify and discuss potential risks and problems related toh the revision process of the “List of productions, works, professions and positions with harmful and (or) dangerous working conditions, which prohibit the use of women’s labor”;

• To coordinate further actions to revise the legislation governing women’s labor, including the “List of productions, work, professions and positions with harmful and (or) dangerous working conditions, which prohibit the use of women’s labor”.

In 2019, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic requested technical support from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in reviewing labor legislation, taking into account risks in the field of women's labor protection.

Professor Kerry Gardiner and local legal expert Elena Babitskaya were assigned to assist the Ministry of Labor and Social Development and the EBRD in this endeavor. The report presented at the meeting is the result of the work done.
