IBC Presented Kyrgyzstan’s Mining Investment Potential to British Businesses
On 14 September 2026, a business meeting between representatives of British mining, engineering, and consulting companies and Kumtor Gold Company CJSC was held in Bishkek. The event was organized by the British Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic.
The meeting brought together companies operating in the areas of geological exploration, mineral processing, tailings and water management, geotechnical studies, environmental safety, and the supply of mining equipment. Participants presented modern technologies and sector-specific solutions and discussed opportunities for their application in Kyrgyzstan’s mining sector, as well as prospects for further cooperation.As part of the business programme, Daniel Maniiazov, Expert of the International Business Council, delivered a presentation on the investment climate and recent developments in the mining sector of the Kyrgyz Republic.The presentation covered data on the country’s mineral resource base, operating deposits, the licensing system, investment dynamics, and the development of the critical minerals sector. Particular attention was paid to the conditions required to attract long-term investment and implement new projects in the industry.According to preliminary data, Kyrgyzstan has 1,020 registered deposits containing reserves of 51 types of minerals. As of 28 August 2026, the Unified Electronic Register of Subsoil Use Licenses of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic contained 1,975 valid licenses.According to the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, in 2025 foreign direct investment inflows in the economic activity category “Mining and Quarrying” amounted to USD 246.3 million, compared with USD 109.7 million in 2024. Thus, investment increased by approximately 2.2 times, reflecting a notable rise in investment activity in the sector.Particular attention was also paid to the Programme for the Development of the Critical Minerals Sector of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2030. Opportunities for investors in this area extend beyond extraction and include geological exploration, laboratory services, processing technologies, equipment supply, energy, and logistics.At the same time, transforming the country’s significant geological potential into sustainable investment projects requires predictable regulation, transparent licensing procedures, modern infrastructure, and responsible natural resource management.Following the meeting, participants discussed potential areas of cooperation, the application of modern technological solutions in Kyrgyzstan’s mining sector, and prospects for implementing new investment projects.
