IBC Mineral Resources Committee meeting

MRC held a meeting with Ms Dyveke Rogan and Mr Richard Dion, Regional Directors of the International Secretariat, Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI). The meeting was aimed at helping companies to understand the EITI procedures better and to respond to the questions arising, especially with regard to collecting data for EITI reports. International Secretariat representatives also shared the international experience of companies' successful participation in EITI.

Furthermore, MRC members discussed the new draft Regulations on the Method of Payment and Calculation of License Withholding Payments for Subsoil Use developed by the Ministry of Economy. Adilet Akmataliev, Head of the Natural Resources Policy Department, Ministry of Economy presented the document in question and responded to the questions arising.

As a result, participants decided to conduct a short survey about MRC members’ views on EITI and to collect their comments to the draft Regulations mentioned above. MRC members are encouraged to send their comments and proposals to the draft Regulations via e-mail by 29 May 2015.
