Business opposes the abolition of visa free regime

The Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic hosted a meeting, chaired by State Secretary Aidai Kurmanova, to discuss the initiative of deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic to abolish the visa free regime for citizens of 44 countries introduced in 2012. Representatives of IBC and other business associations, the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism and the Economy Ministry voted against the initiative. For the past four years, statistics show a significant increase in the number of tourists from those countries. Initiators to cancel the visa free regime have not confirmed their proposal by necessary data, calculations and facts. The meeting decided to send a report with predominantly negative views on this initiative to the Government’s Office.
