Possibility of classification of hotels and restaurants considered

IBC Deputy Executive Director Askar Sydykov, lawyer Ulukbek Turdubekov and Chairman of the IBC Tourism Committee Stiphan Beher took part in a meeting of the working group on improving the system of classification of collective accommodation facilities at the Tourism Department of the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic. The meeting was attended by representatives of tourism associations (Association of Spas and Resorts in Issyk-Kul, Association of Hotels and Restaurants, etc.), representatives of hotels (Dostuk, Jannat, and Golden Tulip) and government agencies (Kyrgyzstandart and Tourism Department). The participants stressed the need to regulate star assignment to collective means of accommodation, in particular hotels. It was decided that this procedure should be delegated to the associations on self-regulation principles. The working group will develop the necessary emendments and will bring them to the Tourism Department.
