At a meeting of the Subcommittee to Eliminate Excessive Barriers in Foreign Trade of the Advisory Committee under the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), IBC representatives told about problems faced by freight forwarders and participants of the fuel market of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The problem of oil traders are related to the lack of unified railway tariffs for transit of goods into the Kyrgyz Republic through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. IBC proposed to conclude a bilateral agreement on the supply of oil and petroleum products between the two countries and to adopt an indicative fuel balance.
Making appropriate changes to the treaty "On the Eurasian economic space" is a cumbersome and lengthy procedure, IBC Deputy Executive Director Daniyar Mederov said. "Therefore, it was decided to solve the problem by conclusion of a bilateral agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Kazakhstan. The document has been developed and approved by the authorized state bodies of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan and sent to colleagues for further work. The forecasts are positive, and the signing of the agreement is expected in the near future, Mederov added.
Director of the EEC Business Development Department Baurzhan Bekeshev promised to assist in resolving this issue and advised IBC to send their proposals to the department. He will send the IBC letter to relevant state bodies of Kazakhstan.
According to Mederov, the IBC has already prepared the letter and will soon send it to the recipient. Besides, IBC attempts to resolve the issue with the help of Kazakhstan’s colleagues, business association – the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan "Atameken".
