Kalikova & Associates Scholarship 2018!

Kalikova & Associates is one of the leading law firms in the Kyrgyz Republic specializing in business law. As part of its initiative to support the development of the new generation of legal professionals Kalikova & Associates announces its annual Scholarship Program among students of law schools. A winner of K&A Scholarship will receive 10,000 som and an opportunity to undergo up to 3 months of internship1 at Kalikova & Associates.

Eligibility requirements:

Full-time 3-5th year students enrolled in law department of universities of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Application documents:

o Curriculum Vitae;

o Copy of the transcript (most recent); and

o Legal article.

In the article, applicants shall identify one or more problematic issues (legislative gaps, ambiguities, inconsistencies, etc.), provide a clear explanation of the problem, its consequences in practice and propose specific solutions. The article shall be written either in English or Russian, which shall not exceed 8 pages (Times New Roman, font size 12, single space). Besides, the article shall be original and earlier unpublished. Articles in English will be given a preference.

Applicants are free to write on any topic within business law. Below is a list of proposed topics:

o Mineral resources rights in the Kyrgyz Republic;

o Regulation of electricity tariffs in the Kyrgyz Republic;

o Intellectual property in the Kyrgyz Republic;

o Competition enforcement in the Kyrgyz Republic;

o Taxation in the Kyrgyz Republic;

o Secured transactions in the Kyrgyz Republic;

o Issues of corporate governance in the Kyrgyz Republic;

o Capital (securities) market of the Kyrgyz Republic;

o Issues of personal data protection in the Kyrgyz Republic;

o Financing under the Islamic financing principles in the Kyrgyz Republic;

o Public-private partnership in the Kyrgyz Republic

o Other business law related topics at applicants’ discretion.

Successful applicants shall be able to demonstrate:

o Academic excellence;

o Desire to pursue legal career;

o Strong theoretical knowledge, writing and analytical skills;

o Knowledge of legislation applicable to chosen topic.

Selection Procedure:

Application submission deadline is 5 pm March 07, 2018. Application documents shall be sent via email to lawyer@k-a.kg (with a subject line “K&A Scholarship 2018”). Applications will be reviewed and shortlisted candidates will be informed about interview dates in April 2018.
