The Kyrgyz-Indian business forum held in Bishkek on June 14-15 was attended by Kyrgyz President Sooronbai Jeenbekov and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Indian entrepreneurs and employees of Kyrgyz departments made presentations at the forum.
President Jeenbekov called on Indian investors and funds for close cooperation.
“Your participation in the business forum will increase mutual confidence between businesspeople of the two countries. It will be a prerequisite for the invaluable exchange of experience between them and will give impetus to further cooperation,” the President of Kyrgyzstan addressed the Indian entrepreneurs.
In 2018, the volume of trade between the two countries amounted to only $37 million.
“I believe that we do not fully use the existing potential of trade cooperation. We have good opportunities for significant improvement of Kyrgyz-Indian trade relations,” Jeenbekov said.
The Kyrgyz side is ready to increase exports of organic products.
The President of Kyrgyzstan told the guests about favorable conditions for investors and business established in the country.
“For the first time in many years, such a representative delegation of businesspeople from India headed by President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (FICCI) Sandip Somani arrived in Kyrgyzstan. B2B links between enterprises and companies of the two countries will give impetus to joint projects in various sectors of our country's economy – tourism, healthcare, energy, information technology, agriculture.”
IBC Executive Director Askar Sydykov said this, speaking on June 14 at a panel session of the Kyrgyz-Indian Forum timed to the official visit of the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to Kyrgyzstan.
