IFC explores opportunities to expand investment cooperation with Kyrgyzstan

On February 27, 2020, Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev met with Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe and Central Asia at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Georgina Baker.

Issues of further cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the IFC were discussed through the development of the private sector, as well as promotion of new investment projects in various sectors of the economy.

According to Georgina Baker, the IFC delegation arrived in the country to study opportunities for expanding investment cooperation and introducing new financial instruments for interaction.

The Prime Minister noted IFC's contribution to the implementation of the first public-private partnership project in Kyrgyzstan to create hemodialysis centers. He also emphasized IFC's assistance in developing new PPP projects in the healthcare and education sectors.

The meeting considered prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation under the PPP project for the modernization and development of airports.

Abylgaziev stressed the importance of this project for the creation of a regional transit air hub, the development of airport infrastructure, the creation of conditions for the development of tourism and the opening of new international destinations.

The Prime Minister and IFC Regional Vice President expressed confidence in the success of joint cooperation in this direction, given IFC's extensive experience in implementing identical projects in the field of airport development in other countries.
