Kyrgyzstan climbs six positions in the CPI ranking

The Kyrgyz Republic has improved its position in the Corruption Perception Index 2019 by six positions, the Kyrgyz Government press service reports.

In general, the country’s integrated positions improved in the international ratings and amounted to 45.2% in 2018 and 46.1% in 2019.

The Kyrgyz Republic took 126th place among 180 countries in the Corruption Perception Index 2019, rising six positions (132nd among 180 countries in 2018). In this rating, Kyrgyzstan is higher than Russia (137th place), Tajikistan (153rd place) and Uzbekistan (153rd place), but lags behind Kazakhstan (113th place) and Armenia (77th a place).

The Corruption Perceptions Index ranks 180 countries and territories by their perceived levels of public sector corruption, according to experts and business people. This year’s analysis shows corruption is more pervasive in countries where big money can flow freely into electoral campaigns and where governments listen only to the voices of wealthy or well-connected individuals
