Kyrgyzstan pharmaceutical market to work according to the new rules

Not all participants in the highly profitable pharmaceutical market in Kyrgyzstan follow the rules.

“There are certain suppliers who are trying to work according to gray schemes, squeezing out the maximum profit,” said First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Artem Novikov at a meeting with representatives of pharmaceutical companies and domestic manufacturers of medicines and medical devices.

“We have regulated the market to such an extent that even the slightest changes in packaging design require six months approval from the Ministry of Health,” added Novikov, stressing that it is necessary to simplify the requirements for registration and re-registration of medicines as much as possible, as well as create opportunity for the recognition of medicines circulating in Europe, Russia and some other countries.

Representatives of pharmaceutical companies spoke about problems with state regulation of prices for medicines, such as delays in payment for delivered medicines by healthcare organizations, difficulties in registration and re-registration of medicines, and also expressed their concerns about the introduction of VAT.

Novikov instructed to finalize and make appropriate changes to the draft laws and regulations within two weeks.

The International Business Council, taking into account the conditions of the pandemic, was actively working to simplify the registration of medicines, sending appropriate letters to the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In December 2020, IBC met with representatives of foreign pharmaceutical manufacturers to discuss areas of joint activities. The participants discussed such important issues as the coordination of efforts to protect the interests of manufacturers of medicines and medical devices, as well as the improvement of legislation regulating the circulation of medicines and devices.
