Ak-Jol checkpoint opened on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border

The opening ceremony of the checkpoint was attended by Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Ulukbek Maripov and Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin, the press service of Kyrgyzstan’s Government reported.
“The newly opened checkpoints fully comply with international standards and are equipped with modern equipment. The number of passport control booths has been increased, which will significantly save the time of citizens crossing the border. The opening of checkpoints is a step towards solving strategic tasks aimed at increasing the volume of exports and imports, strengthening the transit potential of the two countries,” said Maripov.
Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin stressed the importance of opening checkpoints for the economy of the two fraternal republics.
Reconstruction and modernization of the Ak-Jol Avtodorozhny checkpoint was started in 2020. The total estimated cost of the project was 342.3 million soms. After the reconstruction, the transmission capacity of the checkpoint will increase 2.5-fold.
