On March 11, 2023, participants of a trilateral meeting (state-business-trade unions), organized by the Labor Ministry, discussed the issues of reforming labor legislation.
Labor Minister Kudaibergen Bazarbayev stressed the need to revise the Labor Code of the Kyrgyz Republic in order to harmonize the interests of employees and employers. The minister informed the social partners that the minisrty is developing a draft new edition of the Labor Code, taking into account the proposals submitted by the business community. The development of the draft Labor Code is at the stage of completion, and by March 22, 2023 it will be sent to all partners for study and approval.
According to the minister, the number of articles in the bill will be reduced from 446 in the current version to 216 in the draft.
IBC Executive Director Askar Sydykov supported the ministry's initiative and assured that IBC would continue to work closely with the ministry and trade unions to reform the Labor Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
