British delegation discuss compliance with sanctions with Kyrgyzstan’s business

The visit of a team from the from FCDO’s sanctions directorate to Kyrgyzstan has finished, the British Embassy in Bishkek reports.

The delegation included experts from the Foreign Office and the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) at the HM Treasury. The team met with the relevant ministries and agencies to discuss UK sanctions.

The UK legal firm Filedfisher delivered training on UK sanctions. At meetings with ministries and agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic, the UK's sanctions policy was discussed.

On January 25, 2024, the key interests of the business community were considered in the context of compliance with sanctions laws. During the discussions, measures were highlighted to counter possible sanctions circumvention schemes provided by third-party countries. Ways to suppress attempts to violate established restrictions were considered.

The delegation expressed its readiness for further cooperation with the business of the Kyrgyz Republic and coordination of actions with partners from the US, EU and other countries.
