The Statistics Council sums up the results of the first half of the year and discusses future plans

On September 3, 2025, Executive Director of the International Business Council Askar Sydykov took part in the meeting of the Council on Statistics of the Kyrgyz Republic to discuss the current activities of the National Statistical Committee and plans for the upcoming period.

Baktybek Kudaibergenov, Chairman of the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Askar Sydykov, Deputy Chairman of the Council on Statistics and Executive Director of the International Business Council, addressed the participants with welcoming remarks.

Baktybek Kudaibergenov spoke about the role of the Statistics Council as an advisory body that unites representatives of government agencies, the scientific community, business, the civil sector and international organizations.

"The quality of decision-making, including in the private sector, depends on the quality of statistics. Therefore, on behalf of the users of statistical information, we will continue to promote the improvement of the official statistics system on the platform of this Council. We are pleased to note the achievements in the area of reducing duplication of statistical reporting and simplifying statistical reporting formats," said Askar Sydykov.

The meeting reviewed the key results of the National Statistical Committee's activities, implementing the World Bank's "Statistical System Modernization" project, preparing for the 2025 Agricultural Census, introducing electronic reporting, and discussing upcoming statistical work.

The NSC informed on the results achieved in the first half of 2025, in particular, on the optimization of business processes and updating the structure of statistical bodies; on the introduction of electronic reporting as part of joint initiatives with the World Bank project and the Korean Statistical Office; on preparations for the Agricultural Census scheduled for November 2025; on the implementation of the World Bank project to modernize statistics.

The Council members noted significant progress in the work of statistical bodies and made a number of constructive proposals for further improvement of the activities of the National Statistical Committee.

The Statistical Council of the Kyrgyz Republic, approved by the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic dated May 11, 2022, is a consultative advisory body on issues of strategic development of official statistics. The main goal of the Council is to develop strategic recommendations for producers of official statistics.
