A Meeting Was Held Between Business Representatives and the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Kyrgyz Republic

On June 16, 2026, the International Business Council (IBC), together with the Turkish-Kyrgyz Businessmen's Council (TÜKİD), organized a meeting between representatives of IBC member companies and H.E. Mekin Mustafa Kemal Öğem, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Kyrgyz Republic. The meeting was attended by TÜKİD Chairman Ufuk İnce, representatives of Turkish and Kyrgyz business, as well as members of the Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association of Turkey (MÜSİAD).
The meeting was attended by representatives of companies working in the banking and financial sector, mining, construction, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, tourism, consulting and legal services, trade, and other sectors of the economy. The event served as a platform for open dialogue between representatives of the Kyrgyz and Turkish business communities on developing trade, economic, and investment cooperation between the two countries. As part of the meeting, representatives of the Trade Representation of the Republic of Turkey in the Kyrgyz Republic gave a presentation on the current state of Kyrgyz-Turkish trade and economic relations, promising areas of cooperation, investment opportunities, and business support mechanisms.
The presentation noted that by the end of 2025, the volume of bilateral trade between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey had reached USD 1.645 billion, nearly doubling compared to 2021. It was also emphasized that around 300 companies with Turkish capital currently operate in Kyrgyzstan, with total direct Turkish investment in the Kyrgyz economy amounting to roughly USD 1.53 billion. The data presented reflects the significant role Turkish business plays in the development of the country's economy and in further strengthening bilateral economic cooperation.
Special attention was given to the development of tourism ties between the two countries. It was noted that in 2025, Turkey welcomed around 64 million tourists from around the world, while the number of visitors from Kyrgyzstan grew by 17% over the past three years, reaching 199,280 people. Participants showed particular interest in the question-and-answer session, during which company representatives had the opportunity to discuss directly with the Ambassador current business issues, prospects for expanding trade ties, the implementation of joint investment projects, and further strengthening economic partnership between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey.
Meeting participants noted the strong potential for further developing bilateral cooperation, expanding mutual trade, attracting investment, and implementing new joint projects across various sectors of the economy.
Holding such meetings is an important part of the IBC's efforts to develop constructive dialogue between Kyrgyzstan's business community and foreign partners, create additional opportunities for business communication, and strengthen international cooperation.
