The World Day of Savings will be celebrated in Kyrgyzstan for the first time

The World Day of Savings will be celebrated in Kyrgyzstan on October 31, the FINCA Bank informed today.

The World Day of Savings or the World Thrift Day was established on October 31, 1924. For decades of celebrating, the Day has transformed into an annual tradition accompanied by colorful events and thrift promoting campaigns. This year the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic in cooperation with the Savings Banks Foundation of Germany decided to implement a project on international cooperation within which a number of events directed to increasing the financial literacy of the population devoted to the World Day of Savings will be held. 2 out of 23 commercial banks were chosen to implement the project. FINCA Bank has become one of them.

“FINCA development strategy is very close to us - it invests in lasting relationship with clients” Mathias Wangler, a representative of the Fund of German savings banks, said.

Throughout October the Bank is going to held interactive meetings, trainings on savings, excursions, exhibition of animation clips and children drawing contest.

“We were eager and very enthusiastic to start preparations, as participation in the project for our bank means the recognition of the bank’s contribution in the increase in financial literacy of the Kyrgyz population and the development opportunities of this branch of activity”, Margarita Cherikbaeva, the Head of the Management Board of the FINCA Bank, said.

The Financial Literacy Project of the CJSC “FINCA Bank” is multicomponent multiple program including various direction, channels and instruments of promotion. For three years of intensive work, the project team consisting of developers, trainers, managers, supervisors of FINCA Bank, has taught 15, 000 people free of charge. They are businessmen, teachers, housewives, students, teenagers residing in more than 400 settlements across the country.

There were prepared over 100 educational materials and publications and web-based media in Kyrgyz and Russian. In 2015, special training material for high school pupils was developed.
