Living up to customer expectations: Talking to bank CEOs

“The global banking sector is facing unprecedented disruption, and Kazakhstan is no exception. What are the opportunities leading bank CEOs see in the market and what steps have they taken to turn the current disruption into a competitive advantage?

KPMG International surveyed 120 bank CEOs around the world to find out how they plan to grow in the new and current reality.

I am pleased to share the survey findings with you, and to explore three key themes – customer experience, innovation and cyber security – and to provide KPMG’s perspective on the opportunities and challenges facing banks as they strive to transform in a changing environment.

The first article from this series is “Living up to customer expectations: Talking to bank CEOs” by Mitch Siegel, National Financial Services Strategy and Transformation Leader, KPMG in the US. In his article, Mitch explores how bank CEOs are achieving customer centricity. To read the article, please follow the link.

Reaching the next level of innovation in banking: Talking to bank CEOs

“I am pleased to present for your attention the second article from the series of global KPMG’s publications, which is based on the survey of managers of 120 banks. The author of this article entitled “Reaching the next level of innovation in banking: Talking to bank CEOs” is Antony Ruddenklau, Partner, Head of Financial Sector Digital Transformation and Innovations Group at KPMG in the UK.

This article addresses several topics associated with technological leadership, and many observations are the exact reflection of the situation in the Kazakhstan market. Businesses can see the need in increasing investments in the maturing technologies and digital infrastructure. However, they face difficulties searching for skilled personnel. Another problem, which is a concern to more than half the respondents, is quality of the data underlying managers’ decisions.

Reaping the security advantage: Talking to bank CEOs

“I am pleased to present for your attention the third article from the series of global KPMG’s publications, which is based on the survey of CEOs of 120 banks.

The author of this article entitled “Reaping the security advantage: Talking to bank CEOs” is Bia Bedri, Cyber Security Partner (Financial Services), KPMG in the UK. In the article we have raised the issue of cybersecurity, which has become quite urgent in our region as well, especially from the last year. Both the global and Kazakhstani financial organisations, including inter alia not only the major banks, as was the case before, keep increasing, from year to year, their cybersecurity expenses. Meanwhile, as the article describes, certain steps to ensure the cybersecurity do not require high investments.”
