IBC and new Ambassador of France discuss Kyrgyzstan’s investment potential

IBC Executive Director Askar Sydykov, Ambassador of France to Kyrgyzstan Michael Roux and the Embassy’s economic experts on the CIS countries discussed today the investment climate in Kyrgyzstan, its export and import potential, and monetary and fiscal policy.

According to the meeting participants, relations between the two countries have intensified in recent years, and France is an important strategic partner of Kyrgyzstan in the European Union.

Mr. Michael Roux has been the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France in Kyrgyzstan since September 2016. Mr. Roux is fluent in English, Russian, Malagasy, German, and Portuguese. He worked as Deputy Director of the Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Department, Second Secretary of the Embassy of France in Kiev, and the first secretary at Port Louis.

Earlier, Stephen Katta headed the French Embassy in Bishkek. Before his return to Paris, the diplomat was received by Kyrgyzstan’s President Almazbek Atambayev, who warded him with a Dank medal for his contribution to the development and strengthening of Kyrgyz-French relations.
