Business Forum discussed ways to increase Kyrgyzstan's export potential

October 5, 2016

Serious attention should be paid to indicators of Kyrgyzstan in the Doing Business ranking and Competitiveness Index. The country has poor indicators in access to electricity (160th place), taxation (138th place), trade (83rd place), and performance of contracts (137th place), Economy Minister Arzybek Kojoshev said at the Doing Business Globally business forum dedicated to the development of export activities of domestic enterprises.

IBC took part in the event organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in the Kyrgyz Republic, USAID's Business Growth Initiative (BGI) project and the Investment Promotion Agency under the Economy Ministry.

Local and international experts informed on the most attractive sectors for export to the CIS countries, Europe and the United States; on the System of Preferences that allows duty free import goods to other countries; the creation of a recognizable brand and sales development abroad; about the difficulties of doing business in foreign markets.

To solve challenges and problems, the Government and the Ministry work in close cooperation with the business and non-governmental organizations.

A new institution to promote investment and exports will be created on the basis of the Investment Promotion Agency, Minister Kojoshev said. It is necessary to carry out a deep analysis and monitoring of key foreign markets selected for export promotion, such as the EAEC, the EU, China and Turkey.
